Box 603 Brunswick, Georgia 31521 Email Coastal Youth Symphony of Georgia | THE COASTAL YOUTH SYMPHONY OF GEORGIA AUDITIONS Auditions for the 2009-2010 Season will be held Saturday, August 8th (NON-STRINGS) and Saturday, August 15th (STRINGS) Glynn Middle, 8am - 3pm Call for your audition appointment 912-230-1825. If neither date is good for you, we can accommodate. A $50.00 entry fee applies to all new and returning musicians. Returning musicians: 1. Strings, winds, brass - 3 chromatically adjacent scales - 2 octaves Percussion - long roll, 3 rudiments (your choice) 2. 1 short piece of your choice - lyrical or technical 3. Site reading - we will provide piece New musicians: 1. Strings, winds, brass - 3 chromatically adjacent scales - 2 octaves Percussion - long roll, 3 rudiments (your choice) 2. 2 short pieces - 1 lyrical and 1 technical 3. Site reading - we will provide piece We are auditioning for the following instruments only: Violin, viola, cello, string bass, French horn, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon and trombone. All auditions will be held at Glynn Middle School, Music Room. Potential members must be rising seventh graders, should have more than 2 years experience on their instrument, be able to read music, and be enrolled in their school band or strings program if one is available. Previous orchestra experience is not required. Auditions take approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The CGYS rehearses at Glynn Middle School every Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00. Please bring a pencil and the music to rehearsal. Musicians should be in their seats ready to play at 2:00. There is no supervision after rehearsal, so musicians must be picked up promptly.
